New, for me, that is.
I tend to have a hard time really loving listening to christian music all the time. I know, that's crazy, especially being the daughter of one of the founding members of Newsong. I've been convicted about my not listening to it very much within the past year, and listen much more often now. There are certain songs that I just love that constantly bring me before the throne (ex. "How He Loves" by David Crowder), but some are just.....cheesy.
However, this morning we had the Christian Music channel on on tv and I heard an artist I've never heard before: Jimmy Needham. If you've been listening to him for three years, you may be thinking that I must have just crawled from under a rock, but I didn't. However, his music is just my style and I LOVE IT!
So, here is some awesome songs for you to enjoy.
Don't you just love it?!
Here are the lyrics to "Dearly Loved"
Please lay down your arrows
For they're sure to pierce the skin
And water from a broken well
Will make you thirst again
When all things you've acquired
Are tested by the flames
And you can see them melting
Then will you call his name
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
To the slaughters you are being led
Being told that it's a party
That this God is in your head
And every single lie
Sounds just like the greatest truth
But the one truth you're not hearing
Is that he died for you
No greater joy
No greater peace
No greater love than this
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
For they're sure to pierce the skin
And water from a broken well
Will make you thirst again
When all things you've acquired
Are tested by the flames
And you can see them melting
Then will you call his name
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
To the slaughters you are being led
Being told that it's a party
That this God is in your head
And every single lie
Sounds just like the greatest truth
But the one truth you're not hearing
Is that he died for you
No greater joy
No greater peace
No greater love than this
It's worth it brothers
It's worth it friends
To know your maker
To lose your sin
Did you know that you are dearly loved
